Not to mention we have so many words that mean the same thing. i.e. happy, elated, content, cheerful, jolly.

From what I've heard, it's easy to learn it to a useful level - but hard to master it.

The basics are simple - but there are a lot of weird nuances and complications (and, like ZandraJoi says, words taken from all kinds of different languages!)
